MEA Director General Discusses Business Challenges and Employer Support on ‘Business Frontiers in Malta’
The Director General was invited to participate in a radio discussion programme called “Business Frontiers in Malta” presented by Dr Anne Marie Thake, Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy.
Business Frontiers in Malta is designed to explore and analyse business issues, trends, challenges, opportunities and innovations. Leaders of private organisations are invited to share experience and expertise in such topics as entrepreneurship, finance, technology, and global markets, providing insightful analysis and practical advice for aspiring business leaders, professionals and newly minted graduates. Each episode features interviews with industry experts with a view to foster a deeper understanding of the business world and inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs and managers.
During his interview on the programme, Kevin J Borg discussed the current business landscape in Malta and the role does Malta Employers play in supporting businesses and how it engages with policymakers to create a business-friendly environment in Malta in line with its mission. During the programme, Dr Thake and the Director General held a lengthy discussion about the key challenges that employers in Malta are currently facing which Mr Borg identified as manpower shortages; declining work ethic; lack of transversal skills; new management competences required to manage hybrid and remote workers; and increasing mental health issues amongst staff.
