Turning Ageing Challenges into Opportunities: Malta Employers on ‘Ras Imbras’

The Director General promoted the Malta Employers position on “Adapting Our Labour Market to an Ageing Population” on “Ras Imbras” – a popular TV discussion programme aired on TVM News.

During this discussion, Kevin J Borg explained the context and scope of the Association’s efforts in this regard and what recommendations it has been making with the authorities with a view to turn this challenge into an opportunity.

The Director General explained that the recommendations made by the Malta Employers were aimed at encouraging people to continue working beyond retirement age on a voluntary basis. He elaborated on the fact that in the current demographic realities, the decision to postpone one’s retirement was beneficial not merely to the worker him/herself but also to the employer and to the country’s socio-economic development.
